Ying Wa College Choir named Choir of the World at 2026 World Choir Festival
The choir from Ying Wa College in Hong Kong has won the Choir of the World Trophy at the 2026 Hong Kong World Choir Festival, following the festival’s final awards evening at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 15 July.
The Hong Kong choir also received the Outstanding Conductor Award, while HYS & WYK Mixed Choir was presented with the Outstanding Young Conductor Award.
South Africa’s Kearsney College Choir secured three major honours, receiving the Jury’s Prize, the Mr Ka-ki Lee Memorial Trophy for Best Interpretation and the award for Best Stage Effects.
The Mdm Barbara Fei Memorial Trophy for Best Folk Song Performance was awarded to Yunnan University of Business Management Choir for its performance of an Aini folk song.
The awards followed the festival’s final competitive performances and brought the 2026 event to a close after several days of concerts, competitions and international choral exchange in Hong Kong.
