Registrations open for 2027 Mzanzi Conductors Convention in Cape Town
Delegate registrations and choir applications are now open for the 2027 Mzanzi Conductors Convention, taking place at Cape Town City Hall from 12 to 14 March 2027.
Organised by the Choral Celebration Network Foundation, the convention will explore the theme ‘Colour Beyond Boundaries’, bringing together conductors, educators, choirs and other choral professionals for three days of professional development, performances and networking.
The programme is set to include 15 presenter sessions alongside four international conducting masterclasses led by guest conductors Dr Darius Lim from Singapore, Carrie Tennant from Canada, and Kenneth Griffith and Dr Derrick Fox from the United States.
Delegates will also be able to attend concerts and performances, meet colleagues through the convention’s ‘Maestro Mingle’ networking event and connect with choral leaders from South Africa and further afield. Two lunches and one dinner are included within the delegate registration fee.
The Mzanzi Conductors Convention was established in 2023 and has developed into an annual meeting point for South Africa’s choral community, combining presentations and masterclasses with opportunities for emerging conductors and participating ensembles.
Applications are also open for choirs interested in performing as part of the MCC2027 Convention Showcase Festival. Selected ensembles will have the opportunity to present their work at Cape Town City Hall and contribute to a programme celebrating the range of traditions, styles and communities represented within choral music.
