Registration has opened for Europa Cantat 2027, the international choral festival bringing singers from different countries together to explore repertoire, perform and exchange musical traditions.

The festival will take place in the Latvian coastal city of Liepāja as part of its European Capital of Culture 2027 programme. Choirs, vocal ensembles and individual singers can register until 15 January 2027, although bookings may close earlier if capacity is reached.

At the heart of the festival are 40 ‘ateliers’: workshops led by internationally recognised conductors, with options for different levels of experience and musical ability. Participants rehearse their chosen repertoire during the week before presenting it in concerts towards the end of the festival.

The programme ranges from Renaissance, Classical and Romantic music to contemporary choral works, opera and symphonic repertoire. Singers can also explore pop, rock and jazz arrangements, alongside programmes incorporating choreography.

Daily open singing sessions, concerts by invited guest ensembles and opening and closing events will complement the workshops. The full programme for audiences and visitors will be announced in spring 2027.

Founded in 1961, Europa Cantat has a long history of bringing choirs and singers together across national borders. Its last full edition took place in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2018, followed by a smaller edition in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 2021 during the pandemic.

The 2027 festival is organised by the European Choral Association, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation and the Latvian Song Celebration Society.
