Composing to Visuals programme opens for early-career UK composers
Applications are open for Composing to Visuals, a mentoring programme from the Ivors Academy Trust for early-stage composers who want to write music for TV, film and visual media.
The programme will select four participants, who will receive mentoring from established composers while working through a realistic brief provided by Sky. According to the Trust, the scheme is designed to help early-career composers build confidence, strengthen their understanding of audio-visual media careers and develop practical industry knowledge, including how to find paid work.
Participants will also receive tailored creative feedback, opportunities to expand their professional networks and access to a peer community of composers at a similar stage in their development.
Applications close at 5pm on 6 April 2026.
The programme is open to songwriters and composers aged over 18 who are based in the UK, are available for the key programme dates and are still at an early stage in their careers. The Ivors Academy Trust says this means applicants should not yet have significant publishing representation or multiple composition credits.
