Designed for enthusiastic amateur players and singers, the summer school offers the chance to make music in a friendly and supportive setting, with courses including two orchestras, choir, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble and beginner string group.

Participants work with professional tutors across instrumental and vocal sections, with the programme promising a high tutor-to-participant ratio and a wide-ranging repertoire. Alongside the main courses, the week also includes open sessions led by members of the tutoring team, informal member-led sessions and evening concerts given by both participants and professionals.

New London Music Society describes the summer school as ‘a challenging and enjoyable week of music-making in a very friendly atmosphere’, making it an attractive option for adults looking to develop their skills, meet fellow musicians and enjoy an intensive week of ensemble music-making.

The course runs from 16-22 August at Uppingham School.
