AAPPAC to mark 30th anniversary at 2026 Hong Kong conference
The Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centres will hold its annual conference at West Kowloon Cultural District from 6–9 October 2026, with a programme focused on the future of performing arts venues and institutions.
Hosted by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), the conference will be held at WestK under the theme The Next Act: Shaping the Future of Performing Arts. It will bring together cultural leaders, venue operators and performing arts professionals from across the region and internationally.
The programme will explore key issues facing performing arts centres, including the integration of technology, sustainability, community engagement and the design of creative spaces. Keynote addresses and panel discussions will be accompanied by showcases and networking sessions.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to learn more about the WestK Performing Arts Centre, which is due to open in 2027. Designed by UNStudio and AD+RG, the new venue will include a 1,450-seat Grand Theatre, a 600-seat Medium Theatre and a 270-seat Studio Theatre, supporting productions ranging from international musicals and dance to contemporary drama.
Founded in 1996, AAPPAC has developed as a network connecting performing arts centres across the Asia-Pacific region. The 2026 conference will mark three decades of collaboration and cultural exchange across the sector.
Mrs Betty Fung, Deputy Chairman of AAPPAC’s Executive Committee and CEO of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, said, ‘Thirty years marks a generation of collaboration, innovation, and cultural exchange.’
She added that the conference would provide an opportunity for delegates to ‘shape the future of the performing arts together’.
