What role can the performing arts play in shaping a brighter future amid change? As the cultural sector enters a new chapter defined by global economic pressures, shifting political landscapes and evolving audience expectations, themed The Next Act: Shaping the Future, the AAPPAC 2026 Hong Kong Conference brings together cultural leaders and seasoned practitioners to explore how resilience and purpose can guide the performing arts into its next era.

Through a series of focused discussions, the conference will examine how performing arts venues and institutions, performing groups, and artists can navigate these challenges while remaining vital to their communities. Key themes include harnessing technology, embracing sustainable practices, deepening community engagement, fostering global collaboration, and reimagining creative spaces to support new forms of production and presentation.

At its heart, the Conference asks how venues can transcend their traditional roles as performance spaces to become dynamic cultural hubs — places where creativity, innovation, and connection flourish.

The Conference is hosted by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in Hong Kong.
