Music publishing specialists lead MPA’s September industry course
Senior figures from Boosey & Hawkes, Schott Music, Universal Production Music and Wise Music Group will explore different areas of the publishing business during the Music Publishers Association’s two-day introductory course in London.
The Music Publishers Association (MPA) has announced the first panel for The Publishing Effect: A 101 of Music Publishing, taking place in London on 2 and 3 September 2026.
The session, Exploring Publishing Specialities, will bring together four speakers working across theatrical licensing, classical music, production music and forensic musicology:
- Mared Browning, Senior Manager, Theatrical Licensing at Boosey & Hawkes
- Roberto Garcia, Director at Schott Music
- Hannah King, Vice President, UK and Emerging Markets at Universal Production Music
- James Welland, Director, UK Classical, and Forensic Musicologist at Wise Music Group
The panellists will discuss the different specialisms within music publishing and share insights drawn from their careers.
Designed for people entering the industry as well as those seeking to refresh or broaden their knowledge, the MPA course will cover subjects including copyright, royalties, publishing agreements, income collection, sync, legal issues and data.
The first day will examine how music publishing works, while the second will focus on creative relationships, partnerships, networks, sync licensing and sub-publishing. Participants will also have opportunities to put questions to industry specialists and meet other professionals working in the sector.
The course will run from 9am to 5pm on both days at the Music Publishers Association, 107 Grays Inn Road, London. Tickets cost £306 for MPA members, £459.10 for general attendees and £229.55 for NXT GEN participants, including VAT, refreshments and lunch.
