Darius Lim to lead CHORALSPACE's ‘Walking in Beauty’ project in Berlin
Singaporean composer and conductor Darius Lim will appear in Berlin in December 2026 as part of CHORALSPACE’s Walking in Beauty series, marking his first performance at the Berlin Philharmonie.
Lim will take part in the special edition titled Songs of Dreams, presented by CHORALSPACE, with events running from 10–13 December 2026 at the Philharmonie Berlin, culminating in a concert at the Kammermusiksaal on 13 December. The appearance makes Lim the first Asian composer to be spotlighted within the Walking in Beauty series.
The project brings together choirs from around the world, who will collaborate with Lim and the Voices of Singapore Choral Society under his artistic direction. The programme will feature a selection of Lim’s established works alongside new compositions written especially for the occasion, alongside repertoire contributed by participating choirs reflecting their own musical traditions.
Described as a global celebration of choral voices, Walking in Beauty aims to create dialogue between cultures through shared performance, with conductors and singers from Asia and beyond contributing to the four-day project. Set within the Kammermusiksaal, the event offers participating singers the opportunity to perform on one of Europe’s most prominent concert stages while engaging with contemporary Asian choral music.
Lim’s Berlin appearance represents a significant international moment for both his work and Singapore’s choral community, placing Asian choral repertoire within a major European concert series.
